Shortly after she was certified by The Spray Tan Lounge (Shonda and Em!!) in 2024, Tarah founded Shade at just 7 months postpartum with her first daughter. She knew she needed something to fuel and inspire her. An entrepreneur at heart and a born leader, Shade became her reality.
In her spare time, she loves spending all of her time outdoors with her husband and very adventurous two-year-old, Lottie. Camping, gardening and going on hikes are a few of her favorite activities.

Shella is the newest member of our team, trained and certified by Tarah. While she’s new to the world of spray tanning, Shella brings a steady hand, a strong attention to detail, and a deep desire to help others feel confident in their skin. She is available for both in-studio and mobile tanning services, and looks forward to building connections with each client she works with.
Outside of Shade, Shella is a writer of poetry and children’s books, passionate about telling honest stories that reflect both the beauty and complexity of life. She lives in Vancouver with her husband, two kids, and their two beloved dogs. One day, she dreams of trading suburbia for a little land and a few cows and chickens-if she can ever convince her husband to say yes.

I, Tarah, spent over a decade in the wrath of an eating disorder and now fully recovered I can tell you your happiness is not dependent on how attractive you are to others. Spray tans are a fun way to elevate our confidence and they are not meant to shrink us. Your body is just your body. <3
